FATHAGOD.EXE

YATTA

September 3rd October 12th, 2025

PRESS RELEASE

YATTA presents FATHAGOD.EXE. The installation proposes the unique treatment, use, and reliance on wearable technology by aunties and uncles along Fulton street. The artist observes this use of technology as evidence of continuous, spiritual, connectivity to the diaspora, honoring Blue Tooth wearables for their potential sacred use while acknowledging that this connection is wrought by extraction. This technology relies on raw materials pulled from the earth, often mined by the relatives of the very people who use it to stay in touch. YATTA observes and incorporates this distinctly colonial tension: extraction of Black material, both physical and cultural, appears to maintain and fuel the world as it exists now. By adorning ready made examples of tech wearables, crystallizing them as artifacts, YATTA heightens the spiritual role they play in daily life. Calling on an infinite past, FATHAGOD.EXE offers no solution, but information. Again, Connection.
